When I use the belt sander with wood riding against the back stop, the green paint smudges on the wood a little. It only took me 6 years to realize, "Hey, I could do something about that!"
I could either put a couple of layers of clear finish over it or grind the surface clean. What would you do?

Many machines with rub surfaces (if they are not bare metal) have a clear adhesive backed film strip for the work to ride on. A coat of clear may help temporarily but it would be just that, temporary. Not sure about the profile but how about adding a wrap of SS sheetmetal or some other bare metal to keep your parts off the painted surface? **edit** sorry, didnt see the grind clean at the end.. that would be my option**

You could always just put clear tape over the piece, it's cheap, it's removable and if it gets worn down, you just replace it.

OK. I just put clear packing tape over it. That should do fine. Thanks all.
