I purchased several of these barrels which had contained Mango chutney in sealed plastic bags

I have cleaned the barrels with a pressure washer but there is still a slight smell of chutney

Can anyone please advise on how to remove the residual smell of chutney

regards

Try baking soda and water.

Ozone generator. It is how car dealers and motels get rid of the smoke odor in cars & rooms. Borrow one from a neighbor or there are lots of articles on the internet on how to build one.

You can also wash it out with lye solution, bleach or hydrogen peroxide. Careful with the chemicals.

Just be thankful you didn't try to cut a whole tuna with your bandsaw...

Urine. You will no longer smell the chutney. Guaranteed.

(I am sorry. That was sick and twisted and wrong. But I couldn't help myself.)

Ozone generator sounds like a good solution ,if it can get rid of cat urine smell or smoke,it should get rid of the residual smell of chutney ,but I would try Vinegar or Ammonia first.

Dawn dish soap puts out a lime green soap that cuts odors in plastics. Might be your cheapest and easiest bet using it to wash the barrels with it.
