I am running a new 220 line for a new piece of equipment. The wire is 12-3, the breaker is a 20 amp and the plug is a Hubbell 4560 twist lock.
My question, the breaker has 2 hots, red goes on 1 black goes on the other the ground goes to grounding bar. On the plug red goes to one side black goes to the other and ground goes to green ground screw. WHERE DOES THE WHITE NEUTRAL WIRE GO? Does this just get cut off?

I would wire nut it and stuff it back in the box. May have a need for two 110v circuits later and the neutral would already be there.

If you'll never have a need for two circuits, trim it.

Yup - what Michael said - wire nut the white neutral and stuff it the box. I wouldn't trim it off.

The white goes nowhere--cap it off on both ends. You only needed 12-2 for this circuts since there is no 120v power required.
