Got a chuckle out of Dennis Ford's post so thought I'd post another oops e daisy. Had this small walnut piece on the vacuum chuck last week and was trying to get rid of a covered defect that had surface while finishing the bottom tenon. As you can see I reached a point where the ID and OD became equal and needed to hit the stop button quickly. Turned a piece of curly maple as a plug, pressed & glued it in place and finished it up. Came out okay but not good enough to give away so I guess I've got a place to put small parts. Little bit of a bummer because this piece was the first I've used walnut oil as an aid to help reduce tear-out on this dry as a popcorn fart walnut and it had helped greatly.

Looks like you did a good job of repairing it. I've got several like that, and only another turner would know what happened. Everyone else would think it was designed that way. Keep or give away, it's suitable for either I say.
