I've had my 618 router for about 2 years. It gets used quite a bit for rabbeting ends for backs and doing small profiles for misc moldings and such. The cord started shorting out today. After wiggling the area in the red, I was able to finish the rabbet. I ordered a new one from ereplacementparts, but was wondering if anyone else has had this problem and if it's worth cutting into it and attempting to fix so I'll have a spare? If not, I'll make the cable into a short extension cord.

That's where they usually break. I think you can start making an extension cord out of it. Those molded connectors are tough to get open, a bear to try to fix, and my attempts haven't lasted very long. Cut it off and put a female 120 VAC receptacle on it.

That's what I figured would have to happen. Shorty ext cords are always good to have in the shop. Good w/ the bad...
