I am looking at upgrading from a DVR XP to a Powermatic 3520b. I really don't see many other lathes in this size/price range. My main issue is natural edge/non symmetric turnings are difficult on a bench mounted lathe. I've bolted it down about as well as I can, but the extra swing and the stability are going to be my goals.

A Few Q's:
- When does powermatic usually have their 10-15% sales?
- Suggestions on a used DVR price?
- Alternative lathe options in that price range? I love the robust and oneways, but those are 6-7k, well out of my range.

Thanks in advance.

You just missed one of the 15% off sales........I think they started in the last week of October and ended about 2 weeks before Christmas. If you have a vendor within driving distance, perhaps they might have some stock left from that time and would still honor that price if they can.....it is worth a try! We have a local hardware/tool vendor who carries Jet and Powermatic plus other brands, and will extend the price to some of their better customers if they have left over promotional items in stock.......sometimes they have to get permission from Jet/Pm to do so.

Good luck!

Jet and Powermatic are having a sale the second week of January I believe. Standard 10% off of Powermatic. I can't answer the rest though, sorry.

I would keep the Nova Dvr and the PM 3520B. I have and use both. That DVR can be moved around, it is 110 volt. I have used mine for demos. It saves time for me when I don't have make setup changes. The PM is a horse and that is where the heavy stuff goes.

I called a few out of state places for the 3520 and asked for their best price and easily got 10% off plus no tax and free shipping.

Folks, lets remember that the OP is looking for information on sales prices for a 3520B. Should he decide to sell the DVR, he will be allowed to run an ad in the Classifieds section of our site... not here.
