Hi Robert,
Santa was definitely good to you this year!!!
Here are a few suggestions to make your turning experience even more enjoyable:

1. Put two or three drops of light oil in the slot on your tailstock to keek the quill screw lubricated.
2. Put a piece of tape over the slot to keep dust etc. out of there.
3. Put a small clear cupboard bumper on the STOP button to clearly identify it by feel.
4. Put a 6" piece of 1/2" dowel in the headstock locking bolt, pin each end of the dowel with 1/4" dowel or make two
little wooden balls to keep the handle in place. The headstock does not need any more force than you can apply
with the wood dowel.
5. Make some wood "soft touch" ends for your live centre. Hoping you have or will get a Oneway LC with
the 3/4" x 10 tpi threaded end. A 3/4" x 10tpi Machine Tap is only $20.00
6. Get the Beall threading tap for the 1 1/4" x 8tpi spindle and make a few threaded glue blocks. $25.00
6. Keep your tool rack at either end of the Lathe and not behind it. Not safe to reach over the workpiece.

The DVR XP is a fantastic Lathe, good luck with it and have fun.

Thanks all for the kind words. I was out in the shop today turning some bowls and put them in the drying pile. It is suppose to rain tomorrow all day. Good day for the shop. I am new at all this. The bowls are the first I have ever made. A friend of mine gave me some bowl turning stock. He is guiding me along. I will get some pictures together to show.
