I have two dado sets, 8" for the saw and 6" for the shaper with different bore holes. I am looking for storage ideas that are compact as these Forrest sets came in Bladerunner protector that are very bulky. I thought about soft cases with dividers, such as this one:

http://www.amazon.com/Bosch-PRO12CASE-12-Inch-Blade-Carrying/dp/B000FAMYD6

But this is for 12" blades and not available. Any other options?

This looks really good but appears to be not available any more.

I'm not clear on what you are trying to accomplish beyond reduced bulk. Do you need this to be portable? My Freud set stacks in a box with spacers that sets in a drawer but, if it didn't I would mount a dowel on a 'plate' of plywood and stack the cutters with spacers in between. Another option might be something like a wall mounted blade rack (https://www.google.com/url?sa=i&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=images&cd=&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0CAcQjRw&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.woodmagazine.com%2Fwoodworkin g-plans%2Fshop-organization%2Fprotect-and-serve-blade-rack%2F&ei=ydubVMmvDoyxogT1x4KIAg&bvm=bv.82001339,d.cGU&psig=AFQjCNEmJXXkpfyYTAdpVR6pQdKR_44w9Q&ust=1419586874557383). These do not reduce bulk but, they stay out of the way. I have also seen 'file cabinet' style (https://www.google.com/url?sa=i&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=images&cd=&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0CAcQjRw&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.iraidaconstruction.com%2Fsaw-blade-storage-rack%2F&ei=ENybVOrxIcbwoATLrICwAw&bvm=bv.82001339,d.cGU&psig=AFQjCNEmJXXkpfyYTAdpVR6pQdKR_44w9Q&ust=1419586874557383) variations but, none of these are very portable.

Not sure what your primary objective is either, but I have this set http://www.amazon.com/DEWALT-DW7670-8-Inch-24-Tooth-Stacked/dp/B0002ZU6X4 and just keep everything in the case under my table saw when not being used. I don't really need portable but this case is portable and not too bulky I don't think.

Maybe gives you an idea.

I see the purpose as not having to fool with the cardboard boxes. We all know one piece you need is always on the bottom. I like boxes made of plywood with vertical slots. 1/2 inch plywood dividers make it easy to see and pick up the
pieces you need. Loop handle made from old water hose. When there is more than one set I color code boxes and and all
pieces.

Space under the stairs, became vacant after Harry Potter moved away ot Hogwarts.

TS is 3' to the right of the staircase. Dado set has part of the slots; other blades have the rest. Trays big enough to hold 2 x chipper blades each. Finger holes drilled thru 1/4" ply bottoms - push up to raise blade[s].

Below that - shelf for shipping materials for blade resharpening, and misc junk.

Below that - compressor.

My goal is to reduce bulk. I also don't have much wall space for wall mounted racks. So, in my mind ideal is a soft sided case like the Woodcraft one listed above or the Bosch I had linked but none of those are available currently.

My concern with a soft case is that there is no protection for the blades and chippers if dropped, bumped, etc. One of these days, I will fabricate a better wood box than the one I now utilize to store the dado set.

I made one based on Bob Vaughan's and described on the OWWM forum-http://s142.photobucket.com/user/rmvaughan/media/Table%20Saw/dadoset4.jpg.html?sort=3&o=16
It works well for me, especially when I don't use all the chippers at once.

I built a version of the dado storage case from Shopnotes #47. I added a drawer pull to the lid as a tote handle. It works pretty well. You can preview the issue here: http://www.shopnoteslibrary.com/browse/

I keep mine in the wood box it came in.

Would you like a photo of it?

A photo would be perfect. I have been avoiding building it myself, but may consider. Thanks.

I use the plastic box that the Freud set came in. Works fine - one of the reasons I got that set over the Infinity or Forrest.
