I had this piece of maple burl sitting on a shelf for about 3 years before I decided what to do with it (usually I turn interesting wood as soon as I get it). The base is walnut, finish is Wipe On Poly. It is about 10 inches in diameter. Comments and critiques welcome.

What a beautiful piece. You sure did that burl justice. I might try one like that sometime.

Well I'm glad to see you finally sacrificing that super burl. I was afraid termites would get it first. You did it justice and then some--how about some help on a nice soft piece of red mallee burl soon. Really nice original piece.

What a fabulous way to interpret that natural edge.
You nailed a lovely flowing energy in the way you handled the body of the burl too.
No easy trick, that.
Delightful, really.

It looks like a waterfall coming off a fountain. I keep waiting to see water on the table below it. It even looks like the water is moving in a still picture. Really very cool.

Excellent piece, I love the way you make the wood look like it's dripping off the pedestal. Also your form displays the wonderfully figured wood to maximum effect. Very nice and well done.
