Amongst the treasure trove of items from the other day
302648
Was this little fellow. Only markings are on the iron. L. Bailey's
Patent
AUG 6 57
AUG 31 58 EXC

Iron itself is almost used up
302649
And there is a "different " cap iron and lever. Not even close to what Leach has for this style of plane. Adjustable mouth seems to work OK
302650
Body is the Excelsior style
302651
So, is this a "Bailey" or a Stanley??

Your #9-1/2 appears to be a type 4 or later, starting about 1878.

It is a Stanley product. Bailey and Stanley were having issues at the time.
