New member - I've actually registered before but my account was deleted for some reason? Perhaps for lack of posting, so I'm trying to change that this time around. Picked up this beauty on ebay. She needs a bath and the nickel plating is worn, but I'm excited to use it so that doesn't matter to me.

Welcome back to the Creek Andy.

A T&G plane has never crossed my path. It is likely easier than using a #45 for the job.

Thanks! I've been tempted by the 45 (haven't we all?), but I haven't pulled the trigger on one yet. I have a 46, a few wood moulding planes, and I am looking for a 50. I believe with those my bases will be more than covered.

The #50 is a nice plane. I use mine now for plowing 1/4" slots more than a #45. It is a bit limited in the depth it can cut, ~3/8".

A #45, type 11 and later, is a very versatile plane. It can even be used to make some simple moldings.
