This is one of two veneered jewelry boxes I made as Christmas presents for my mother and mother-in-law. The exterior is curly maple and mahogany with wenge trim. The interior is curly maple. It's finished with shellac (french polish). The general dimensions are based on a commercial jewelry box my wife has while the design was inspired by some the boxes Bill Wyko has posted here.

Very lovely work on both boxes. My next project but I don't expect such beautiful results.

Thanks for the comments. I'm relatively new to veneer and box making so these were a good learning experience. I've still got a little ways to go to learn how to truly hide the mistakes, but that will have to wait for another project.

Very nice--you should be proud of the finished product. Hopefully the person getting it will appreciate the woodworking skills needed to make something so beautiful.
