Thin turned wobbly Applewood bowl

Got some more pictures of recent turnings and this Apple bowl I like a lot, so does LOML Anny :), she’s got it now :D.

Not very large at just a hair over 7 “ and 2 3/4” high, the color is what I like the most from Applewood, and turning it is always a dream.

This sat for better than 2 years and now is stable and light after returning it, finish is my usual Polymerized Tung oil from Lee Valley.

Great looking Apple bowl Leo! I like the form - especially the way you bring the walls in near the opening. Also, the rich color is amazing! Doesn't look like it was even close to any sapwood! I can see why your wife grabbed this one! Thanks for sharing!

Thank you Steve :), yes the wood color is very nice, Apple usually is, as for the sapwood it is often very thin/narrow, especially if not an orchard tree, like here

Other than that I make the sealer from the Polymerized Tung oil by making it a 50/50 mix with real turpentine, for the rest do I follow this here, HTH ;)

Thanks Jared :), I do have a vacuum system, but it hasn’t seen use in at least the last 2 years , this one was held with/on my Mega Jumbo jaws, the inward sloping wall made this easy, just have to make fine cuts ;)
