I have the harbor freight lathe that is the delta/jet clone. the bolt thing? that holds the tool rest to the part that slides on the bed (sorry I don't know the name) is stripped (it has the handle you pull and it diengages from the screw, then push and tighten screw. the replacement from harbor freight seems pricey, and this one was the toughest. any suggestions on either a better quality replacement, or a different style replacement that still works well?

Can you list a model #? Generally HF tools have many other clones like Delta as you say, but also Grizzly and others.

Any similar handle will work. The ones that came with it all stripped on me over time and I've replaced them all. 3/8" bolt size I believe. Take the stripped one to HD and check in the hardware section. They have a drawer of handles/knobs etc that has these and a direct replacement. Like I said I believ it is 3/8" but grab a nut from one of the drawers to confirm and try it on your old handle. Took me five minutes and I picked up a half dozen. Haven't stripped out one of the new ones yet. I don't remember exactly, but really not expensive at all and you are back in business quick and easy.

I believe that lathe model is the clone of the Jet 1236 and most parts interchange. Check with the people on the penturning forum.

You can get an identical handle from McMaster Carr. They are called Adjustable Handles (http://www.mcmaster.com/#control-handles/=uwcjuf) You will need to know the thread size.
