(My google-fu is weak...deal with it.)
I'm seeing a ton of images of laser-cut LPs (e.g. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009JV297S?ref%5F=sr%5F1%5F3&qid=1416685573&sr=8-3&keywords=sunday%20delivery%20usps&pldnSite=1), or at least claim to be laser-cut.
Of course I'm also seeing hits that say LPs are/were made from PVC, obviously a bad idea.

Anybody have a definitive answer to exactly what LPs are made of? (A link to a thread from the last dummy who asked this will do. :p)

Do the flame testThat assumes I have an LP to test.

Someone asked me whether I can do something like the clock in that link I posted...I'd just as soon not turn the whole thing into a scavenger hunt.

there's always someone who will take the chance (either ignorance or don't care). If its a cheap machine they probably make a good profit before it packs up, not quite the same for your health.

nearly all 78rpm records were made from shellac, most/all 45/33rpm are PVC (polyvinylchloride).

I asked this question a while back and the answer was no - http://www.sawmillcreek.org/showthread.php?222778-vinyl-records-safe-to-cut&highlight= Thanks...I was about 90% sure PVC was involved and that the subject had come up here (multiple times) before, but neither Google nor the forum search function were cooperating.
