Knob & tote are Honduran Rosewood. Chisel handles are Cocobolo. Japanning is my latest formula -- which substitutes Lee Valley Polymerized Tung Oil for the more commonly used BLO. It covers in two coats, (vs the usual three), cooks at a lower temperature, and is just as hard, i.e., like enamel.
