good morning all

Hi I have been looking at buying a chemical metal etching kit and am wondering what your taught would be on it as I do a lot of dog id tags that are stainless steel and was thinking this would give me a good black marking oh and it comes with a stencil making kit (I have a laser and a rotary engraving machine )I must figure out how to add them to my profile

your advice would be much appreciated

cheers
Frank

I would suggest trying Cermark on the stainless in combination with your laser. You may find that chemical etching is not something you need to do.

You can also mark the tags with your rotary machine and a diamond stylus but I would suggest using a multi-line font.

I can't see that making up a separate stencil for every tag would be cost or time effective compared to lasered cermark or even rotary.

If you had loads of the SAME mark to do, then it might make sense - IF the kit gives a repeatable smart marking.
