Just heard about a new dovetail jig from Leigh Tools that lets you use your router table to make dovetails. Looks like it'll start shipping in the next couple of weeks.

http://www.leighjigs.com/rtj400_overview.php and http://www.highlandwoodworking.com/leigh-rtj400-router-table-dovetail-jig.aspx

I currently have a Leigh D4R that I have only used a few times because it's so hard to set up (and I don't make a lot of dovetails). It sure looks like the new jig would be a lot easier to use for those of us who already have a router table with a precision lift. But it's hard to tell much from a 3-minute intro video.

The D4R has infinitely adjustable spacing for the size of the dovetails, while the RTJ400 has fixed-size (or at least, fixed increments of a fixed size). I'm not entirely sure I really needed the flexibility of the D4R in the first place, so I'm thinking the RTJ400 might be a worthwhile purchase.

Anyone out there played with one (or seen it in person) yet?

Opinions on this new jig vs. the D4R?

Wish I could help. I've had one on order for over three months - they keep delaying the release date.

I too had a fancy/huge jig and was looking forward to this compact jig.
