Can anyone identify this Japanese plane blade mark?

I picked up another Japanese plane in a trade and am wondering if anyone can help identify the mark. I really doubt it's anything special as the blade doesn't appear to be laminated.

A native Japanese speaker has said the mark reads "hitomi" (eye) but that the second character has a couple of extra marks.
