whiteside Classic style Rail&Stile bit

Hey guys. I have a really dumb question, but here goes. Can you remove the cutters from the bit and use the bit as an edge profiling bit, like for a table top? Whiteside sells the same bit for edge profiling but I'm wondering if it's just the same bit without the groove cutter.

I don't think it is exactly the same bit in that you may need to add a bearing to account for the removed groove cutter, but it should be possible. I have that set, or a Whiteside set very similar to it, but I'm not where I can look at it right now.

Thanks Chuck..I did not want to buy the edge bit if it's the same as the rail and stile set.
