Hi all, I am new here - hoping for a little guidance on what to do with mature tamarack (larch) trees. We have 12+ on our property, they are 80-90 years old and in poor health. They have some sentimental value to us, so I'd hate to see them end up in a chipper. We live in a suburban area and there aren't many mills nearby, but I did get in touch with a mill owner about 2hrs away who would be willing to work with me on turning my sick trees into something useful. So my questions are...
What's the best thing to do with tamarack? Is it worth anything, and would I have any prayer of re-selling excess lumber? What would you expect to pay for milling and kiln drying?
Thanks for your thoughts!

Tamarack is a great wood for boat building. Are there any boat builders in your area? Boat builders might prefer green or air dried lumber instead of kiln dried.
