Have a bunch of glued up poplar blanks so I've been making a few vases. This one is 11"H x 5.25"W x .25" T hollowed out to about 8.5". Not that big of fan on paint but painted this one and then added the arrangement of store bought nik-naks and a couple home made flowers and set in place with small aquarium pebbles.

Here the same poplar wood just finished with Watco and Beall buffed. 9" high hollowed out 8". Haven't decided what arrangement yet.

Had a chunk of cherry that would have made a vase same size as the others but needed to get rid of a long deep crack and this is what I ended up with. 11" H x 3"W x .125"T.

First bowl of a second set of 4 salad bowls. Came from a 12/4 barn plank that was just taking up space. 1/4" wall, little better than 8" wide x 2.5"H. Watco + Beall.

Nice work; the walnut bowl is my favorite. I really like the orientation with nice balance and sapwood highlights.

All nice, but the blue colered one would be my pick. The flowers do have an influence though.

Bob,

It's actually purple in color. Like I said, not sure if I like the paint but it's a glued up piece of poplar so it's pretty plain jane looking when the sides are straight cut from top to bottom. The second poplar vase gets a little bit more interesting with the curvature of the wall. I'm out of filler right now so I didn't put anything in them yet. Here's a couple pics of some other little nik naks I include into the arrangements. My flowers are bandsaw cut but I think I'll start a few like Tom Hartranft posted a few days ago.

Nice looking vases. I like the cherry one but the painted one is also nice.
