first one is an 18"x9" hollow form from bigleaf maple, wall thickness about 3/8, didn't want any thinner since it had lots of spalting and i had to use lots of CA glue to keep it stable.
the second one is walnut burl, a gift from david marks, and the third one is another bigleaf maple piece, burned in the grooves with a wire.
those are about 10" diameter.
finish is a 24 hour bath in my 55gallon watco barrel i use for my norfolk pine turnings, then they dried for 2 days, buffed and then a few coats of a wipe on poly. i usually don't do the real shiny finish, but for those pieces it was a good choice since they took do different after buffing the watco, had a few dull spots. last step was buffing them with renaissance wax

thanx for looking guys

here the bottoms of the bowls and my watco barrel at that point about 28 gallons of finish, now i have about 32 gallons, mostly homebrew danish oil, about 8 gallons of watco and 1 gallon of turpentine. we'll see what i add next

...the second one is walnut burl, a gift from david marks...I think we need to invent a new icon to tag "stealth gloat" posts.
