I'm getting an 'error reading file', so I can't check it out..
I believe there's a 'close' icon in your Lasercut program that will connect a disconnected graphic- try hovering your mouse over all the editing icons and read the popups, see if one of 'em says something like "close path" etc, if so, group the graphic and hit the button and see what happens!

(it's late, and I'm not much help!)

There is a combine curve button, it's near the top of the screen.

LaserCUT Bert,

An engraved area has to be fully enclosed,(ie: have an inside and an outside) Unite lines will close any open shapes you have, LaserCUT also ignore line weights, just use a default line weight

cheers

I'm using X5, if you look at the top toolbar go to "Arrange" on the "drop down" menu at the bottom is "Join Curves"
Select all you want joined. When you select "Join Curves" a "Docker" should open to the right, there you have options
to select the distance apart the lines are you want to combine, set this and hit "Apply" that should do it.
