Dangerous flashlight apps

I saw a news report about smart phone flashlight apps. It seems that many of them written in China, Russia, and a few other not-so-nice countries require access to info on the phone, that something so simple has no need for. They send your info out to the bad guys.

I haven't noticed the flashlight function to be impactive to battery life on the iPhone. I don't use it for long walks in the woods so, maybe a few moments here and there. What is curious is that someone might think that one free app is any safer or more dangerous than another :)

My iPhone is jailbroken, so this has allowed me to install an app called "Activator". It allows me to set up various functions based on things like double-pressing a button or long-holding a button, etc. One function I have set is that a double-press of the home button from just about anywhere will turn on the flashlight (camera flash). It's one of the most-used functions of my phone...
