I have a friend whose father died and left her this delta 46-250 lathe. It is in mint condition and actually used just a few times. Can someone give me an idea what she can sell it for?

Thanks ...Chuck

I have that same lathe; bought it about 3 years ago for $225. It came with bed extension, pen press, 7 or 8 pen kits and 5 HSS tools. So if you take away all the extras I got, $150-175 I think would be a fair price.

Retail for it was about $300, so half that is a reasonable value for a used tool.

I have a Craftsman which is the same as a Rikon listed in the classifieds right now including numerous extras. Looks like I have it sold for close to the advertised price after about a week. There's a Jet on local Craigslist missing several small parts for $200 that's been sitting for weeks.

I know you asked about selling but depending on the money issues. You could donate it to a High School Wood-shop for the enjoyment of students for years to come. I would also claim a tax deduction on it. Just a thought...

I'd say the value can vary significantly based in accessories. If there are good tools, a chuck etc, the value could be higher.

But for just the lathe I'd ask $150.
