Well gonna try this picture posting stuff again. These aren't the greatest shots in the world but you will get an idea of what I have, I'm in the middle of a cabinet project and the shop is a mess right now so I don't want to take current photos.

#1 is obviously an outside shot
#2 is entering the shop from the 8' insulated overhead door accessed from the carport.
#3 is a view of the north wall of my shop on which a I built a full width 24' cabinet mounting my CMS and mortising machine these share a common fence. My jointer stores in the open area and rolls out when needed.
#4 shows the pull out "short" lumber storage drawers, there are six 24x54 drawers with 250# full extension slides. the opposite side of the jointer has six drawers with the same slides, I house my hand power tools in these.

My shop is sits on a 32' x 46' slab, the open area of the shop is a 24' x 32'. I wanted the outside to look like a normal size building so I kepth the walls at 8' but vaulted them to 10' for more head room. I welcome any comments or questions and will try to post more pics later.

Wow! that looks great!
Where is the DC? I see the ducting, but no DC unit. Is it a cyclone? Also, looks like you have run the ducting above the ceiling. How is that working out? I can't quite figure out where the ducting is for the TS. Does it come from underneath?

Larry

PS Welcome to the creek, we love pictures!!!! Oh, by the way, pictures of messy shops make us all feel better knowing that we are not the only ones who hate to clean up :D

Oh yeah, do you have a layout diagram of your shop you can share? It really gives a better feel for what your shop looks like when combined with photos.

Thanks for all the kind words, I built my shop in 2001 it has a central AC/Heat system (hey I live in Texas and work in a welding shop all day, didn't want to come home and play in the heat:D ) and although its hard to put an accurate figure on it since it is a shared meter I think that my electric bill only went up around 30-40 dollars a month I really went overboard on insulation. I installed an Oneida 2hp cyclone and used metal duct work ran through the ceiling on all the outside drops. I ran PVC underground to my TS's , planer and drum sander. The system is equipped with an Ecogate system (this thing works GREAT). I have automatic gates on both TS's, BS, router, jointer, 6" belt sander, the other drops have manually operated gates.

Here are a few more pics (I have a shop diagram somewhere but can't find it, I'll try and put one together and post it later.)

#1 this is looking through the second door on the left when entering through the overhead door, this houses my compresser (piped with 6 drops around the shop), the Oneida cyclone (notice the Ecogate Greenbox control panbel on the outer wall in picture two of the first post), sink (with heated water!!), and my favorite a urinal!!
#2 is a shot from the east wall looking back towards the entry hall and shows the BS and some of the front cabinets (these were prefabs taken off a job site, I didn't build them).

WOW... that is one awesome shop!

I'm w/ Bob. That shop is bigger than my house (and cleaner!) Great shop.

It looks like you have two TS's? One I recognized right away. Patina on top (aka rust! :D ), yellow plastic insert on top and stamped steel wings. Gotta be a Craftsman contractor! I bought one used several years ago, got hooked on WW and upgraded to a Delta CS. The Craftsman lived outside thru one winter (wet here) and I sold it for the same price I paid for it. Is the other a Uni?

I'm ashamed to say no, I made a stupid mistake for someone as old as I am. I found this saw used at what I thought was a great price, thinking it was a Uni without really checking it out I agreed to buy it. When I went to pick it up I noticed it was just a regular 10" right tilt saw with a 2hp single belt drive, since I had already told the guy I would buy it (he didn't claim it was a Uni, just that it had a 52" Unifence) I felt obligated to go ahead and take it. I am hoping to upgrade the Craftsman in the future and plan on it being the real thing only a left tilt (I still can't get use to the right tilt blade).

Beautiful Shop, David, Both inside AND out and Great Pics too. Those prefab cabinets you picked up sure look nice and really worked out well and with the room you have, that "Shorts Storeage" is really a neat setup. How much insulation & what type did you use in your shop?

Very nice shop!!!! Way too clean though!! :p
The more I think about it, the better I like the idea of a LONG and not so wide shop since more shop work is done at first with long rough lumber. Hummm, may have to think this one through a little more. Very nice shop and great setup inside!!!!

Welcome to SMC where the water is fine and the folks are GREAT!! :D

NIcely done David. I think my garage shop was that uncluttered and clean the day I started moving stuff in! :D
Look's like you have a lot of flexibility with the usable space.

Wow, that is a geat shop David, thanks for posting the pics. Great cabs, equipment, lighting and I love the wood storage drawers. I can only dream what it would be like to have room to walk around in the shop without banging your hips into the bench or a cabinet or the table saw :)

Very nice shop. I really like how you had a dust collection strategy for your ductwork to all your tools and it barely at all stands out.

And I have to admit, I got a kick out of the urinal. I keep threatening the wife that I want one in the house, she rolls her eyes and mutters something about hell freezing over. ;-)
