Well, there was a few items in it that MIGHT be of interest
297798

Besides a few screwdrivers, a WS backsaw, and a brace marked ( so far) as Germany, there was a 36" long, two-handed grip screwdriver:eek:

And, this oddball saw297799

Etch says it is a National Hardware Special by Disston. Although the medallion says Warranted Superior, there is a Keystone on it. 8ppi, straight back, crosscut, 26" long. The etch has Disston in big block letters, with the keystone set behind the letters. The "1840 Philadelphia 1940 is in a pair of lines underneath the Disston name.

Ring a bell with anyone?

http://www.disstonianinstitute.com/sales/1413.jpg (http://www.disstonianinstitute.com/sales/1413.jpg)The National Hardware Special model is a promotional item made for a trade show. This would have been the last example of such an item made before the Disston company was bought out by HK Porter in 1955. The saw is a 26", 8 ppi blade with what appears to be a birch handle. By this stage Disston was not too picky about the quality of the wood used in saw handles. They were using a few different species of wood in their saws and had stopped using apple after WWII. This saw is more of a display item than a great user, even though the condition is very good. Price $20.

BTW: that brace is a 10" sweep brace from Germany, a H.S.#102 is the other markings on it. Looks like a samson chuck on it, too. Cleaned up nicely.

The backsaw is a Disston Warranted Superior. UGLY, UNcomfortable tote. Instead of a keystone on the medallion, there is just a "dot" like a period. LOTS of tiny teeth, too.

Lets see, there are five screwdrivers in the bucket, three gear pullers, two wire brushes, a 10" Ridgid pipe wrench, a 1-3/8" holesaw with mandrel, and a spanner wrench by Fairmount USA # 464, plus a Stanley #295 sureform rasp that will need a need insert.

Not too bad for $10, and I even got to keep the 5gal. bucket!
