My wife's folks are removing a old, small cherry tree. How do you seal it so that you can turn it later and still have it green wood?

Thanks
John

Hey John-

I personally use Anchorseal, it works real well, I've got some pieces that were cut to rounds over a year ago and they are still solid and check free. They are not quite green, but they're not dry either. You can also use regular paraffin (candle wax), or some people also use latex paint. Hopefully that'll help you out..

Cheers!

I use Anchorseal too. Tried water based paint and was disappointed.

Anchorseal which I purchased at a local woodworking store.

Woodcraft sells a green wood end sealer. I just tryed it on some Cherry I snagged from my husband's work. So far so good. I've been told it works pretty good and is cheaper than Anchorseal (about $20 a gallon).

Don't wait too long to seal that wood or it will start checking before you know it.
