Just thought I'd share this in case others have a similar problem.
For several months I've been having an intermittent problem reaching SMC.
For no apparent reason every time I'd try to open the 'Creek I'd get the dreaded page/url/what-have-you not found message.
I tried everything I could think of -- really drove myself nuts -- and then one day a lightening storm solved the problem for me. No, not by blasting my computer! In order to prevent my computer from being blasted I unplugged it and the cable modem and left them unplugged for the duration of the storm.
When I hooked it all back up after the storm passed I no longer had any problems reaching SMC!
Since then the same issue -- being suddenly unable to reach SMC -- has occurred at least twice that I can think of, and each time I have resolved it by simply unplugging the cable modem for a while, then plugging it back in and rebooting the computer.
:)
