I did a search and didn't find anything.

I'm wondering if anyone has some good info on a duck call turning kit. Out here, there's no duck hunting, but as a novelty, I want to turn a duck call. Any good kit suggestions? The duck doesn't need to sound "real", but I don't want to have a fake sounding call. Not that I would actually know what a duck sounds like.....

TIA

Craft Supplies sells Echo duck call inserts already tuned, all you need to do is turn the barrel with a 5/8" hole through it. The barrel needs to be about 3.25 to 3.5" long, blanks of 1.5" square will be big enough. http://www.woodturnerscatalog.com/t/57/Game-Calls

Drill the blank first, then turn, a lot easier than trying to drill after turning. Don't forget to cut a groove for the lanyard loops.

Here is a quick version of a mandrel. Turn between centers cut in 2pieces and then jam chuck the blank in between the 2 pieces. The spur drive and the live center indentations are your reference points.

The 2 pieces of the mandrel without the duck call barrel.
