Please check this Kickstarter campaign: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/365631258/3d-illusion-lighting?ref=category

Any idea how we can create the graphic that this person is using? I am not asking for the shapes that he has produced. I want to understand how we can create the lines that give the illusion that its a 3 dimensional object.

You can create this is a variety of ways in both 2d and 3d software. Most 3d art software has the ability to render wireframes, meaning it will take the 3d object you've created and render only the edges that make up the polygons. It's a simple process with the caveat that you have to learn/know how to create 3d objects in the first place.

Try experimenting with the table tool, then convert to curves then use the envelope tool. Then break it apart and use the envelope tool again. Also try the distort tool.

Remember that the light is key to the 3d look.

Free Program Like Blender...

In my mind trying to do something in 2D to simulate 3D is counter productive...... create it in 3D and smash it or use several other techniques is probably closer to actually making something similar to what your showing and in the long run you have so much more control over the various objects. Sketchup could also possibly be another solution....... To use in Corel you'll probably have to convert to DWG/DXF, AI or some other program Corel can use...... but simple enough to do.... ( we personally use Rhinoceros, FormZ and several other programs to draw in 3D )

Thanks everyone. Time to learn Blender :)

Kevin:
The images that you posted were from models made in Blender?

Khalid,

The model is with Rhino and FormZ.... but you can get similar results with Blender.

The fun bit of this is all the other cool things you can do once you learn 3d. Rendering wireframes is a starting point, but once you learn to model 3d objects you can create some seriously cool artwork for your products. Most modern render engines can create some remarkable engrave-able effects. Cel shaded artwork, multiple perspective renders, depth maps for 3d engraving... All super cool possibilities for creating awesome stuff.
