Grizzly offers a line of planer blades made in Japan. The claim is that they are the longest lasting knives on the market. The catch is that they are over twice the price of the other knives. ($205.95 for 20" knives)
Looking for any input from folks with experience or actual knowledge of whether these knives are worth the money and why or why not.

Looking at their catalog number they seem to be T1, which is indeed better than the now standard low quality stuff. If you have tear out with the knives you have now you will see improvement . That steel is made in this country too. Plenty of
vendors to get other quotes from. Just get all quotes based on T1 spec , not "high speed".

Many sites claim to be selling T1, however, prices tend to be less than half. In addition, some googling tells me that blades with Molybdenum are given an M designation.

Some vendors buy steel in long lengths and make up their own sets. You can ask them to make sure one blade has the
factory grade stamp. But even without that the T1 ,M2, has a different look and feel from what comes stock in the machines. Most places are pushing the the cheap stuff because they make a good profit on it and when they are asked for
a quote on "high speed" the only way to get the order is to give a quote for semi high speed.
