Here is a shot of the spot I get with the material several distances below focus. This is with the nozzle off, 60w CO2 -

Is this normal, or an indication of something? It cuts ok, I can run MDF at 80% 6mm/s but I'm trying to squeeze as much speed as I can. 1mm/s can make a big difference in this speed range for a job that takes 40 hours. When aligning I use pulses of 20ms or so. When the burn beings to appear it usually starts as a ring with a heavier spot on one edge before it fills in.
