I bought one of the closeout Ridgid miter saw stands from HD at the price of $99. Too good a price to pass up.

I'm thinking of how to alter the stand by constructing two "wings" (extensions) and fit them with stop blocks for repetitive cutting. Ideally the extensions should rest on the existing stand -- one end adjacent to the miter saw table and the other 4 to 5 feet resting on the roller leg.

Anybody that has done something like this, I sure would appreciate hearing from you and seeing the fruits of your labor.

Thanks for looking.

I used the Sawhelper from American Design and Engineering.

You can find out about it here. http://www.sawmillcreek.org/showthread.php?p=170703#post170703

One thing I noticed is the rollers can be raised and the base used as a stop. Granted, it isn't a flip stop and you can only get it so close or far away, but it is there and can work if the lengths fit.
