I am planning my outfeed table and was wondering why I need to keep the back rail on for the shopfox classic style fence on the 1023 griz, it has a teflon pad but does not come in contact with the rail, it rides on the table. So is there any reason why I could not take the rail off and make room for the outfeed table.
Thanks
Larry

The rear rail is great for supporting your outfeed table directly on the saw. But remember, it also supports the back of your right extension table, so you don't necessarily want to take it off. If you want a free standing outfeed solution, just build in an edge that will overhang the angle and allow you to butt things up against the table.

I wouldn't remove it either. My outfeed table butts right up against the rail (has it's own casters). Course, when the new shop gets populated the wheels might come off.
