Below is an example of what's happening. The top yellow piece of material shows where the square is to be cutout. The bottom piece shows what the actual cutout looks like. The piece seems to move start cutting every time about 1/2" to the right. Any ideas why? My laser is a 25 watt Mercury III LaserPro from GCC.

Don't know your specific model, but I made the mistake once of having "Absolute Coordinates" set in my driver. Drove me nuts till i found it and unchecked it. Also check that your "Home" or "Origin" is set where you think it should be in the laser parameters.

My system has Home - Without Home - Relative - Center - Smart Center.

I have Home checked and when the laser goes to the home position after initializing it is setting on the very top left corner of the work area like it is supposed to.

Our laser has an 18" x 24" table. If the file I send has a different page size from the laser table dimensions, the layout I'm engraving will be in a different spot .

That has to be it. Mine is 18x25 and my file for that cut was 18x24. That makes sense.

So is the best thing to do to set the page size the same as the bed size as default?

Graham,
It depends upon the machine that you have. Other machines will likely have different procedures.

That was it. The page size didn't match the table size. I corrected that and everything was back to normal.
