Hi, I am very new to this group, and I turn pens. I am currently looking for some fruit tree wood for an upcoming craft fair. If any of you guys and gals know where some can be found, please let me know. Thanks in advance.

Contacts, Contacts, Contacts! Friends, family, tree surgeons, want ads (see firewood), Craigs list online here: http://newyork.craigslist.org/zip/, city tree cutters, etc etc. If you're out in a rural area, perhaps even a mill or two. Should have no problem getting more wood than you can turn, and for free, or the "price" of cutting it up and hauling it away!

I could sell you some Apple or Cherry --all ready cut into pen blanks---if interested send me a PM. That is located on the top right of the page,
Welcome to the best darn woodworking site on the net.

Welcome Jeremiah,
What part of New York are you from??
I'm just above Westchester but people think I live upstate.

Well I have always considered the Helderberg Mountains as part of Upstate. I am really surprised at how fast this group works. Thanks all.

I used to live in New Paltz. Not too far away. You might try Curtis Lumber. It is in Balston Spa but they have alot of good turning stock. In October there is a great turning symposium called Totally Turning as well. Aside from there being a vast amount to be learned there there is alot of wood for sale. http://www.totallyturning.com/ .
I'm not affiliated with the symposium but I go every year.
