Belt cleaning stick debris on rubber hold down rollers

I've got the Grizzly G9983 open end 15" wide belt sander. I've used the belt cleaning sticks and pads over the years and in the past have been good about rubbing the belt cleaner stick debris off the rubber hold down rollers by rubbing them with my hand. Well I've not been so good about that lately and have quite an accumulation on the rollers now that doesn't want to rub off. Anybody else dealt with this? I was thinking I'd have to remove the roller to soak the gunk in mineral spirits or something. Other ideas?
