The trim on the exterior windows of the wife's office has been painted with four coats of exterior flat paint. It's brown in color. I was outside cleaning the window and checking the paint/caulk job and noticed that since I painted it, it rained and left spots on the stool. That won't fly with someone looking out the window. What type of paint (latex, oil) do you folks use and what sheen (flat, eggshell, satin, semi-gloss, gloss) for exterior wood trim? I avoided the glossier ones because there are numerous imperfections and gloss and dark colors tend to highlight those flaws.
