I'm trying to get some ideas on how best to get a tool rest to do outboard turning on my Jet 1642. Any ideas, suggestions, pictures, etc would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Steve

Powermatic does sell a free standing outboard tool rest, it does seem to creep, but you can brace it, it makes a great smock holder when not in use

You might consider doing a low bed extension - http://www.sawmillcreek.org/showthread.php?174054-Home-brewed-bed-extension-for-Mustard-Monste (http://www.sawmillcreek.org/showthread.php?174054-Home-brewed-bed-extension-for-Mustard-Monster)r

Back when I had a 1642, I had seen information on adapting the Vicmark outboard attachment to the jet and the Powermatic. Google it, I'm sure the info is still out there. Their system is reasonably priced and easily adapted with just a couple of holes reuired for fitting. It also looks a lot like the Robust outboard rest in the way it is adjusted.
