I got a great deal on a Grizzly G8794 planer that came with extra knives. The
G8794 is a older model about 10 years or so that has 12 1/2 x 1/16 x 3/4 double sided blade. The blades that came with it are 12 1/2 x 1/8 x 3/4, and NO they didn't fit. Somebody was going to be bummed out. Ordered new blades from Grizzly, it took me about a hour to set 2 blades. The G8794 has springs on each end of the cutter head, probably to protect the unused side, no jack screws to bring the blade back up, and of course no gauge came with it.
Has anyone used the Mini Magnetic Planer Pals on a machine with 1/16 blades
that are spring loaded, this sucks big time. What I want to know I guess will the springs push the gauge away from the cutter head.

Mark,
I'm in the same exact situation that you described. I got a killer deal on the planer ($100), and it was in fantastic shape, with a stand.
Now I have a nick in the blades.
Did you get this to work out with the blades you had?
According to the Grizzly site, the right blades are the G9024 12-1/2" x 3/4" x 5/64" HSS Double Edged (http://www.grizzly.com/outlet/12-1-2-x-3-4-x-5-64-HSS-Double-Edged-Planer-Blades-for-G8794-Set-of-2/G9024). According to the call that I made, the mini planer pal works with this.
The blades look like a deal at $12.50 per pair.
How did it work out for you?
