Convert a router guide

I don't like my Dewalt router guide.

I have a Porter Cable Router Guide and want to connect it to my Dewalt router.

I need to replace the bar that the rods screw into.

I have not been able to unscrew the phillips head screws. I can't break them loose.

Any suggestions.

Have you tried an impact driver?

No I haven't.

I have no experience with impact drivers.

What should I look for when shopping for one?

I do have an air impact wrench that has a 1/2" drive.

You could just grind the heads off.

Old age is the pits, but it sure beats the alternative.

I forgot that I have a corded 3/8" impact drill. :confused:

I will find a substantial phillips bit and try it.

It's done. The impact drill took care of it.:)
