My Unisaw only allows the blade to be lowered to the level of the table. I made a ZC insert for it, but can't figure out a safe way to cut the kerf in it. On my Jet, I was able to put it in place then raise the blade into it, but there is no room in the Unisaw to do that. Does anyone have any ideas?

Nevermind, I just read one of the related threads which showed up under this one, it said to use a blade from a dado set. Should work fine.

You can do it as you suggest, using one of the outer blades from a dado set to create your initial slot, or clamp the new insert on top of the original using a long board, being careful to have it exactly lined up with the opening and then raise the saw blade up through it. I generally use the first method.

I under cut them with my table mounted router and then make the final cut with the saw blade that I am going to use with it.
