I'm buying my first jointer and I have found these three on CL. The guy selling the ridgid will come down to $250 but the other guys wont budge.

I vote the Ridgid. From the looks of it, $250 is an excellent price.

I haven't ever used craftsman or rigid tools but I do like grizzly for the value/price

I'd get the Ridgid at $250 if it passes muster.

This Jet isn't bad for $350 if the Ridgid doesn't pan out.

Thanks guys. I will probably go with the ridgid. Its a great price. I didnt see that jet however for $350. If the ridgid doesnt work out I will definitely look at that.

Six inch jointers are easily come by - those all look pretty good. I'm trying to psych myself up to spending $1,400 on a grizzly myself but here's one lesson I learned almost
immediately: the day you get a six inch jointer, you'll need to square up an 8" piece.

Yes i see plenty of 6" but no 8" used. I cant bring myself to spend a lot on a new 8"

I know how you feel - but there are some 8" used - wait and good things will slosh up on the shores of craigslist.

I almost bought a Powermatic 60B a few days ago - defeated only by shipping costs. Next time, maybe close enough for me to
go get it.
