Here is a recent completed piece that I took with me to the AAW Symposium in Phoenix. Sadly I had to take it back home too! :)
I tried a different approach with this one. Instead of super thin everywhere and tipsy if anything was put in it, I drilled a 7/8" hole down to the bottom and only thinned the collar area for the piercing effect. I actually like the extra weight of this for stability and this is the first time I didn't use my usual "squiggles" for my piercing pattern. I also kinda like this pierced look and will likely utilize it in future pieces. Hat tip to Wally Dickerman for the inspiration.
Silver maple, 6 1/2" x 3 1/4" finished with multiple coats of tung oil and Ren wax.
Comments and such are always welcome, thanks.
