I'm at a complete mental roadblock on making a cut on a mantel. I've cut the front section - 45's on each end, plus a 15 degree angle to angle the bottom of it back toward the wall. But for the last 45 minutes I've been staring at the two uncut side sections and just CANNOT visualize the set up to cut them.

Any help?

Oh yeah...left tilt on the mitre saw.

Can you post a drawing of what you're trying to do?

Mike, Go to the DeWalt site, http://www.dewalt.com/us/woodworking/ and find the section on cutting Crown Molding, and it should explain it. (they have pictures too). Also remember that if you're angling the front piece back toward the wall, you must have that piece and the end pieces upside down and up against the mitresaw fence at that same 15* angle when you cut the 45* angles on both the front and end pieces.

Thanks Norm. I was obsessed with the darn thing, so after posting the original question I went out to the shop and fooled around with scrap until I figured it out.
