I have been using a Sorby Arm Brace with home-made tools for quite a while. It works fine but is best with the lathe at a higher height than is comfortable for normal turning. Today I made this brace in an attempt at a more ergonomic tool.

Fine looking piece of work both in fit and finish. How does it work for you?

Looks good--does it help.

Let us know how it works. I know the Don Pencil like yours is somewhat awkward.

I used it yesterday and it works fine, really about the same as the Sorby; but it puts my elbow about 4 inches higher when the tool is level. I have had good results with the Sorby and by raising the lathe, it is comfortable to use. This one is comfortable with the lathe at a more normal height.
