Panel Door Finishes..

Sorry about the rookie questions.....but do you have to be careful since the panel will "move" within the stile & rail? How to avoid an unsightly finish edge where these joints meet?

Is there no movement to worry about finish problems if one uses ply or mdf veneer panels...??

Hi Roy,

Just to be sure stain and finish the panels before you assemble them. That way you will get all the way to the edge so there will not be any unfinished parts to show.

I spray all my stain. So I just spray heavy around the inside of the frames. It runs into the grooves. Never had a problem with doing it this way.

Unless you are spraying white lacquer, or a color. Then you need to do the panels before assembly, or at least the edges.
