View Full Version : Ceros on a Festool hose?

I just got my closeout Ceros. Powerful and vibration free, though it destroyed a sheet of sandpaper immediately; one edge just disappeared. (any idea why?) Fortunately it didn't damage the base.

I assumed a Festool hose would fit it, but it doesn't. I can't go on using duct tape. Any good suggestions?

https://www.supergrit.com/MirkaCerosBuy the Ceros hose. It's a very good hose and it's only $45 at Supergrit.
The ribber rubber end fits Festools and unscrews so the hose can be threaded onto the Ceros.

For $6, Fein makes a "step adapter" that works reasonably well.

I'm in the same boat - Ceros sander and Festool vacuum. I spotted this a couple of days ago but haven't ordered it yet. Beaver Tools assured me this is what I want - http://beavertools.com/mv-adap3629-mirka-vacuum-adapter-for-mirka-sanders.html

The reason why I have never bought the Mirka adapter is from a post on the FOG forum - here is the quote:

"I bought the adapter. It says clearly on the package that it is 29mm, not 27. I cannot get it on the 27mm hose enough for it to stay on. In my opinion, it don't work."

Get the PC hose. I got one from Peachtree (Item#382). One end screws into the port of the Ceros perfectly. The other end has 3 different adapters for you to make up a variety of connections.
It works great for me. Decent length too.

I have a PC hose and it does screw in perfectly. Unfortunately I can't find the large end that I would need for the Festool hose.:(

I also have a Fein Step adapter and that works fine. Thanks.

I was thinking about a solution that involved either removing the threads from the Ceros so the hose would fit it, or even removing the threaded piece entirely; but the simpler solution works.

Okay, I have it working with the step adapter, but it is kind of clunky.
If I could dissemble the "28mm Swivel Exhaust Assembly" I think that would leave a tube that either the Festool hose or the step adapter would fit over. Anyone try that? It is not obvious how it is held together.

That reminds me - did you check to see if your new Ceros was on the recall list?

I bought my Ceros in Dec 2013 and was sure it would be on the recall list. My serial number is EUA plus a 5 digit number. I called Mirka about it and they were clueless.

I bought my Ceros end of 2012 and it has an EVN +5 digits for serial number. I assume it's fine since it doesn't match the recall list.

As to connecting a hose, I use the Mirka hose connected to a Fein Turbo II, works great. I wrapped the hose and cable in elastic tube wrap. Keeps hose from catching on work edges.
